Angela DeNiro, a native New Yorker, is a jazz vocalist, voiceover artist, lyricist and composer.  In addition to her jazz stylings and scatting abilities, she has also done extensive studio work, with various jingles and recordings to her credit. She currently performs with saxophonist husband Ron Aprea, with both their quintet, and as a featured vocalist with Ron’s 16 piece Big Band. The Big Band had a six-year residency at Trumpets Jazz Club, New Jersey, and recent and upcoming performances at Birdland Jazz Club in New York City.

Angela grew up listening to Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, and Nancy Wilson.  After graduating with a degree in Music, she joined a Big Band, and met her husband-to-be, established jazz saxophonist and arranger Ron Aprea; they forged what would become a lifelong partnership, both personally and  musically, performing and recording together in both small and big band settings. Ron enjoys featuring Angela scatting along with either his sax, or  a section ensemble.

Ms. DeNiro has appeared at the Rainbow Room, and in major concerts and festivals.  She was a GTE Giants of Jazz at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, performing with Ron Aprea and the Kenny Barron Trio, and with Lionel Hampton and his Big Band; she and Ron were again featured with the Lionel Hampton Big Band at the  Planting Fields Arboretum. n 2001, Angela performed on BET-TV's "Jazz Discovery" competition, whose panel of judges included jazz legend Chick Corea...she and the quartet won first prize. Angela and Ron also headlined les Nuits du Jazz Festival, in Nantes France, and were featured with the Cote Ouest Big Band, under the direction of Jean-Phillipe Vidal.

Angela and Ron co-hosted a weekly jazz radio show on WSHR, 91.9 FM,  Rush-Hour Rendezvous, which featured the music of jazz greats old and new, as well as  interviews with legendary jazz artists.   More recently, Angela guest co-hosted the NYC cable TV show “Ginger New York” with Ron, interviewing jazz legend Sheila Jordan, Kenny Ascher, and Marlene VerPlank.

Ms. DeNiro can be heard scatting on jazz vocalist Mark Murphy's Links album, released in 2001 on the High Note Label, on a track entitled "Lady's In Love".  Angela is also on Second Floor Music's Sing Jazz recordings. She has four albums of her own to her credit…selections can be heard on the Music Page.  Her second album was entitled, Swingin' With Legends, with the Ron Aprea Big Band, and featured legendary jazz greats Lionel Hampton, Frank Foster and Lew Tabackin.  Her latest release is a joyous reprise of that concept, called Swingin' With Legends  2 with the Ron Aprea Big Band…with special guests Randy Brecker, Ken Peplowski, and Lew Tabackin.
